OK, it has been a little while sine I made a post so I figured it was time for a little update. It is already week # 4 in my second term at Kaplan University and we only have 10 weeks per term. This term I have College Composition for IT majors and Foundations in Information Technology. These two classes may not be as fun to me as say my first term web design class was, but that is most likely because they are a lot like work and the web design was much more like ummm well fun to me. Writing is one of those things you do not think about much, until the day comes that the professor says “class you have an essay due in two weeks and here is your topic…..WRITE”. That is when it becomes something you start to ponder and for me when the writers block kicks in. The first essay we did was a narrative essay so was pretty much just telling a story from our own life, no real research was needed and you have very loose guidelines to go by. This one I have to start on now however is a process essay where you have to take the reader through the steps in a process. This was all fine to me and I had the great Idea, “hey since I know some about web design I can do a paper on making a website, maybe tell the differences in just a regular HTML/XHTML page and a Content Management System like I use on KStudent.com/x/ and ALMobileHome.com. Then when the professor said it needed to be two to three pages and not over 5 I had to rethink that quickly, so I will be telling how to make a very basic web-page for say family and friends to look at and keep up with what is new in your life (Kinda like a blog page). That I am hoping I can keep to the 2 -3 page limit he suggested and surely under the 5 he said do not go over period.

Friday, May 29th, 2009This is the first post to my WordPress Blog. After having a blog on wordpresses site I decided to manually load one onto my hosts server. I am going to use this mainly for school purposes. To see more about the school I attend and all see that About page. I will also be able to ransfer posts from my blog at srkap.blogspot.com to here as well a very sweet function. I think since I have more control over this and I can add in any widget or plugin I want I may use this as my main blog from now on. I also may put a Multi-User of Wordpress on my server for other students of Kaplan University, if I find any that are intrested and would use. If you are a student and would make use of this just let me know in a email. Well is late and I have more reading to do and then is off to sleep.

Grades are in for my first term and second starting soon
Thursday, May 7th, 2009I am happy to announce that my grades for my first term are in. I received a 99 in both classes, 99.40 in my Strategies class and a 99.70 in my Web Design class. I am thrilled with the outcome and to find out I placed top of my class in web design. There were many talented people in my class and I lead but just under one percent point. I hope to continue working hard, setting reasonable goals and working as hard as I can to obtain those goals.
The upcoming term I am taking a composition class and web design 247. The comp class I am not to thrilled about but plan to do my best in it. The web design class I am ready for as we learned a lot of the basics in 117, and now I wanna know the not so basics. I want to code the code least coded, write the site least written and do the tasks that take a few brain freezes and a walk away and return or two.
I am overall happy with my start at Kaplan University, I as many of you that will read this I’m sure, was very skeptical on how much I could possibly learn from an “Online University”. Is this just a joke or waste of my time I wondered. Well I have learned a good bit and have just a little over 10 weeks under my belt.
On a personal note my baby boy is doing great almost is 5 months old and is very healthy and happy. My wife is doing well aside from the normal blues of mothers whom have to return to work and leave that bundle of joy at home for any amount of time , but she is handling it like a trooper.
Well I have blabbed enough and school starts oficially at 10:59p.m. Central time tommorow night so I should go ahead and get some rest, because if last term is any indicator I will be living on 3 to 6 hours of sleep tops for the next 10 weeks and 10 days off past me by quicker than I can comment.

The End of Term Number 1
Sunday, May 3rd, 2009Well all my final projects have been turned in, but the actual end date for my first term at Kaplan University will be Wednesday! I must admit I was more than a little anxious in the beginning. Being a 30 year old married father if 2 kids , one a 4 month old baby boy I had something to fight for and to inspire me to do better. As of now I have a 99 in both classes, so if the finals go good I should end the term with high A’s. I know it will not always be easy but it will always be worth it.
